Shannon Bodeker has an active interest in following amendments to legislation regarding the legal rights of same sex couples, specifically in areas related to same sex family law and has done so since being admitted to practise in 1998.
Shannon has held an interest in same sex family law and other legal issues surrounding sexual orientation and the legal rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community over many years. Shannon undertook study towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promotion at Curtin University and completed units in Sexology.
Shannon continued to develop her understanding of legal and equality issues surrounding family law and same sex couples by completing related units in a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at Murdoch University. Shannon also wrote a course on and lectured in “Sexology and The Law” at Curtin University.
