If your child custody matter isn’t resolved during the pre-action proceedings, you may be required to attend a Case Assessment Conference.
The purpose of the conference is to:
- Help the court assess the issues in dispute and determine how they can assist; and
- Give another opportunity for the parties to negotiate a resolution; and
- Create a case management plan to help achieve the best outcome for the children.
The court may then give direction on how your child custody is to proceed. If you do not attend your conference, orders may be made in your absence.
