Spousal Maintenance and Later De Facto Relationship

Do you receive spousal maintenance from a previous de facto partner?

Your right to these payments may change upon entering a new de facto relationship. In this instance, the law doesn’t require an automatic end to spousal maintenance payments. However, the financial standing of your new relationship will be relevant to those payments.

It may be the case that the financial circumstances in the new de facto relationship are strong. This might eliminate the need for additional spousal maintenance.
