A court order for equal shared parental responsibility requires the parties to consult one another on major long-term issues regarding the child.

Major long-term issues are those relating to the care, welfare and development of a child, of a long-term nature, and may include the child’s:

  • Education;
  • Religious and cultural upbringing
  • Health
  • Name
  • Changes in living arrangements that make it more difficult for them to spend time with a parent
