Separation and divorce can be a very painful and difficult time for husbands and wives or de facto couples as they experience a wide range of associated emotions.

At Bodekers Family Lawyers & Mediators our family lawyers aim to compassionately guide our clients through divorce and property settlement and assist them to make very important decisions about their children.

We understand that as far as possible it is important for our clients to make their own decisions about divorce and related issues.

Married couples can divorce after 12 months of separation.

The grounds for divorce are that the marriage has irretrievably broken down which is evidenced by the parties living separately and apart for continuous period of 12 months.

Separation in some instances can be under one roof.

Married couples seeking to divorce when they have been married for less than two years are treated differently.

Twelve months after a divorce order is made parties need to have filed for property settlement and/or spouse maintenance or special procedures need to be taken.

It is important to have your will looked at by your lawyer when you are separating or divorcing and to obtain necessary advice.

We provide our clients with a complimentary background pre-read which will save you legal fees and time. You can tell us all about your case before you come in for your first family law appointment.

Please note this is not family law advice. It is important to seek specific family law advice. We are very experienced Perth family lawyers and can provide you with the very best legal advice regarding your divorce or separation matter.
